My 13 Fav Flicks of 2015 So Far. All In Alpha/Numeric Order Of Course.
Excellent “Soldier Caught Behind Enemy Lines” Flick. It seriously is a cross between a dramatic ‘After Hours’ meets ‘Escape From New York’. Once the film ramps up, the intensity rarely stops, the tension is relentless and the viewer is only allowed to occasionally catch their breath. Super Fun Flick!
Clouds Of Sils Maria
Oh Shit! A French-German-Swiss Co-Production… Can You Say Artsy Fartsy Film? I Liked It. I Liked It A Lot. Nuff Said!
“A young programmer is selected to participate in a ground-breaking experiment in artificial intelligence by evaluating the human qualities of a breath-taking female A.I.” – IMDB
A Creepy, Thought Provoking and very Witty Flick, from the Guy who wrote 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dredd and the Novel, ‘The Beach’. Need I Really Say Anymore…
Pete Doctor has now officially become my Fav Pixar Writer/Director. Up is my Personal Favorite Pixar Flick and Inside Out is in my Top 5 or 6… A heartbreaking joyful exploration of growing up. Just fuckin’ see it, why don’t cha!
Best Horror Flick of the year so far. This film has the Best Score that I have heard in a long long time. The music takes on a role in and of itself, and creates much of the tension and dread throughout the flick. Not super duper scary, but a truly inventive and fun scare-fest.
Kingsman: The Secret Service
From the Guy who brought you “Kick Ass”, brings us a kick-ass satire on Bond/Spy Flicks… Count Me In!
Love & Mercy
I Really Can’t Say It Better Than Edward (Film Jerk) Havens Said It: “If you have not seen Love and Mercy yet, go see it.
If you have not heard of Love and Mercy yet, watch this (trailer) and then get yourself to the theater.” Yeah… What Ed Said.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Holy Fuckin’ Shit! I had many trepidations about this Re-Boot/Sequel, but when I saw the Comic Con Footage from last year, it looked so good, I know that I would give it a shot. Director George Miller is back and has really outdone himself. This Flick is virtually one Non-Stop 2 Hour Car Chase. It is the Best Action Flick of the Year and One of the Best in the last 10 Years or so…
Hal Hartley is back to form with the Ned Rifle. Fans will recognize the many of the characters returning for this third installment of the Henry Fool Trilogy, but it could also play very well on its own.
It’s a Slow Burn Western with Michael Fassbender… What More Do You Fucking Want???
Holy Shit! A Ukranian Flick completely in Sign Language with No Subtitles or Voice Over??? Count Me In!
What We Do In Shadows
Bar None The Best Vampire Documentary of 2015 So Far! This is one Smart, Silly, and Super Duper Fun Flick.
From Wikipedia – “Locked away in an apartment in Lower East Side of Manhattan for fourteen years, the Angulo family’s seven children—six brothers named Mukunda, Narayana, Govinda, Bhagavan, Krisna (Glenn), and Jagadesh (Eddie), and their sister Visnu—learned about the world through watching films. They also re-enact scenes from their favorite movies.”
They only ventured out about 9 to 10 times a year and only with their whole family. Instructed not to interact with outsiders. In 2001, (The Year of 911) they did not leave their Apartment at all. Fascinating Doc!
