Dick’s Favorite Flicks of 2012

These are my picks for my Favorite Flicks of 2012. They are the Flicks I liked and enjoyed the most during the year, and I have placed them in Alpha order because they all deserve to be seen. So Says Me!

Let us begin, shall we…

Beasts of the Southern Wild

My Favorite Flick of the year. What a beautiful cinematic experience from a
first time Director Benh Zeitlin and a great cast full of non Actors especially six year old Quvenzhané Wallis. Yeah even Good Ol’ Dick Hollywood likes him some Artsy Fartsy Flicks now and again. So Fuckin’ What!

Cabin in the Woods

Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard sure are a couple of smart and oh so witty
writers. The Best Self-Reflexive Meta Deconstructive Horror Flick of the
Year! And it sure is one hell of a hoot to boot.

Django Unchained

Tarantino’s “Django Unchained” plays like an Absurdist Comedy while spraying you all
over with buckets and buckets of blood. He is by far the best dialogist in
film today, and it is such a fuckin’ joy to hear his words Snap, Crackle and
Pop off the screen.

Headhunters

This Norwegion Flick is so good, somebody is already remaking it for English speaking audiences, and inevitably they will fuck it up. It is a darkly comic and viciously over the top thriller that  engages the viewer for the entire ride. Such a God Damn Good Flick!

Killer Joe

William Friedkin has made back to back really good flicks by adapting two of Terry Letts plays. First up was 2006’s, “Bug”, and now six years later he comes out with “Killer Joe”. This movie has some pretty fucked-up ideas floating about, with one hell of a sick and ultra smarmy protagonist. In my humble opinion it is Matthew McConoughey’s best role to date.

Les Miserables

I am on the side of the fence of the people who enjoyed Tom Hooper’s film version of this famous musical. And yes I cried many times throughout the Flick… So Fuckin’ What!

Looper

Fuck! I really liked this Flick. Rian Johnson has made a really fun and not too overly thinking Time Travel Movie. This is one hell of ride that I gladly watched twice while in the theaters.  Just check it the fuck out!

The Loved Ones

2012 was not a great year for the Horror Genre, but this little fucked-up gem did jump out and bite me pretty hard. A pretty sick and twisted tale about Lola, a high school student that always gets what she wants, because she is Daddy’s little Princess. And what Lola really wants is a Prom Date to her own special fucking Prom! And when I say special, Holy Shit, I mean SPECIAL…

Moonrise Kingdom

I Loves me some Wes Anderson and this is a great coming of age flick seen through his silly and strange mind. His best Flick in years!

The Raid: Redemption

Who needs a complex plot when you have some of the best fucking martial arts fights with machetes, guns and multiple heads bashed into walls. The Raid: Redemption is the best Action Flick of 2012, and is generally an all around Bad Ass Fuckin’ Flick!

Safety Not Guaranteed

Add another Quirky Romantic Comedy to my Quirky Romantic Comedy list. I mean come on! Aubrey Plaza is just so damn cute and funny. Just a fun little Flick for all you Guys and Gals to enjoy and watch.

Searching of Sugar Man

Story of Rodriguez, who recorded only two Folk Rock Albums in the early 70’s, went unnoticed in the States and faded away. While unbeknownst to himself, he becomes a Super Star in South Africa, while no one really knew what happened to him or where he ended up. Fun fun Doc!

The Snowtown Murders

This Australian true life Crime Thriller/Horror is an intense, disturbing and creepy flick. Daniel Henshall is unnervingly charismatic as real life killer, John Bunting. WARNING: NOT A FEEL GOOD MOVIE. WATCH AT YOUR OWN DAMN RISK!

Ok ok… There ya have it. My 13 Favs for 2012. But then again, there have to be more Fav Flicks for Fucks Sake! Right?

So Says Dick Hollywood!

Great list! Loved Killer Joe, which was also probably the funniest movie I saw all year.
