In the immortal words of Neil Young, “Hey hey, my my. Rock and roll can never die.” This holds true for the two bands featured in the wonderful Documentary, “Dig!” The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols were filmed over a seven year period as they struggle with the corporate establishment of the Music Biz. The film focus’ a bit more on Anton Newcombe, the Lead Singer and driving force behind The Brian Jonestown Massacre. He is prone to violent outbursts and fights with bandmates on stage while firing them on the spot. Might have something to do with his excessive drug intake along with being an obsessive perfectionist when it comes to the way the music the is being performed. It really is a fascinating look at these two bands and the destructive force of drugs, paranoia and jealousy.
